Education and Admission
William Bird III received his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law, (J.D. 1999) and later received his Masters of Science in Taxation from Hofstra University, Frank G. Zarb School of Business (M.S. 2004). His Undergraduate Degree is from York College of Pennsylvania, Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice, awarded in 1996. Mr. Bird has been with the firm continuously since 1994 when he started as a student intern. Mr. Bird is extensively involved in all aspects of litigation and the research of legal issues pertaining to Agreements, Estate Planning, Taxation, Commercial Transactions, Real Estate and Not-for-Profit Organizations. His expertise spans a wide variety of practice areas, in both drafting and litigation. Mr. Bird has argued before the Appellate Division, successfully obtaining a number of published Appellate decisions in each of these areas of practice, as well as issues pertaining to insurance, education, bankruptcy claims, arbitration, the Child Support Standard Act (CSSA) and preservation of personal injury awards. Mr. Bird remains active in the legal issues pertaining to Not-For-Profit organizations, including contract disputes for local government, community service organizations, health care and educational institutions.
Mr. Bird was admitted to practice law in the New York State courts in 2001 and in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York in 2002. Mr. Bird is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
Teaching Positions
Mr. Bird is an adjunct Professor of Law at Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center since 2005. His curriculum includes Not-For-Profit Corporation Law and its related Clinic and the Civil Practice Clinic.
